That is up to you! Only you know what reactions you have or don’t have with different kinds of contacts to rubber. Consult your physician on this one.
We don’t really suggest using Rubber Hugger on small children’s mattresses or around toddlers. When stretched around a mattress, the tension on the Rubber Hugger is strong enough to keep your bedding in place with normal use. However, if you have a toddler, they could get caught in the band and the band itself could become a choking hazard.
My mom has really bad arthritis. How strong is the tension on the band? Will she be able to pull it out to tuck in her sheets?
Although the tension on the band is enough to keep sheets from moving, it is not so strong that she will not be able to slightly extend the band and tuck in her sheets. Note: after Rubber Hugger is stretched around a mattress for the first time, there is really no need to ever take off the band when changing bedding. As a result, this is going to be a huge help from the standard method of repeatedly tucking sheets under a mattress.
We have tried other products that grip the sheets, but we were disappointed when these products were damaging our sheets in the corners. Does Rubber Hugger cause any damage to our bedding?
We specifically designed Rubber Hugger without clips, grips, pins, buckles, or any pieces that would harm bedding or mattresses.
Rubber Hugger stays hidden under a blanket when you are not in bed, so you really don’t see the band. Our research concluded that most sheets are lighter-colored, so it made sense to develop an off-white band. We are going to consider other colors if there is demand for them. Email us your color preference to email@example.com and we will take it under consideration.
My husband hates the feeling of being tucked-in and untucks his bedding no matter where we go, but I love the feeling of being cocooned and tucked-in. Can we use Rubber Hugger?
Yes! When using Rubber Hugger, one person can tuck their bedding under the band for that secured feeling, but the bed partner does not have to. The band will still hold the bottom fitted sheet in place for both sides of the bed.
We have one of those adjustable beds where we can raise and lower the front of the bed. Will Rubber Hugger work on this kind of bed?
No, not in its current form. We are in production of a strap that connects to the band on each side of the mattress (where those pivot points are) that will make the band workable for these kinds of mattresses. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will let you know when that strap is completed and ready for consumer use.
Like any kind of natural product, Rubber Hugger may lose some elasticity over time. Due to the thickness of the band, because it doesn’t need to be taken on and off a mattress, and because most beds are not exposed to direct sunlight, rain, wind, and harsh chemicals, Rubber Hugger will last a long time.
Anything can break if you don’t use it properly. However, we designed Rubber Hugger as one complete unit, which cuts down the likelihood of the band not functioning. A vulcanization process is used on the ends of the band to seal the loop, eliminating the need for any clips, buckles, or straps. Vulcanization is when heat and pressure are applied, allowing the sulphur atoms, present in natural rubber, to attack the double bonds of the carbon atoms in the isoprene strands and bind them together. This allows the band to be very strong at the joining point.
Yes, but that depends on the air mattress and the how thick the mattress is.
